Simple questions regarding Modules

If a module appears empty, is it really empty? Can it be deleted? If yes, how? And why is it in existence to begin with?

I assume that there was code in it at one time but that it was deleted or moved, thus meaning it can be deleted.

Yes, if its empty, you can delete it. THe probable reason that it exists is because you (Or someone) used the "Delete" button on the "Run macro" dialog. That only deletes the code, not the module itself.
