Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Processing power and memory are all factors in the speed, however..

Are there Data Tables which can be held in the 'Data Model' rather than on Tabs, and only bring the information relevant from the 'Data Model' with the use of Pivot Tables.

Are you bringing to much Data into the Model, can you use Power Query to Transform the Data prior to importing it, to give yourself a reduced size data set?

Are you 'dirtying' cells which are not being used, make sure Rows and Columns, below and to the right of your 'used cells' is clean.

etc..

I hope this helps

Conditional formatting is fine, as long as used only on the cells intended. Make sure the Applied area is targeted at your intended cells, not whole columns or rows.
