CAN YOU REFERENCE A DATABASE BY TELLING EXCEL TO LOOK FOR IT IN THIS FOLDER ONLY.
I NEED TO INSTALL A TEMPLATE AT 26 SCHOOLS AND USERS WILL NOT BE SAVING TO SAME LOCATION NAMES. CAN I TELL THE WORKBOOK TO LOCATE THE DATABASE AND IF SO CAN I ALSO USE THIS REFERENCE IN A FORMULA FOR FINDING THE NEXT NUMBER ON DATABASE FILE.

No the schools are not networked. We use to be bbut our admin is streamlining supposively and we lost a great system. I have to create Purchase Order, Leave Forms, Timesheet and Budget Templates that all require a database as reference for all items saved. Each of the above is in a seperate workbook. I seriously need help but am new to excel and can not seem to find a solution to maske this transition easy.

I would suggest setting up a centralized database on the internet with a webserver. It would make things A LOT easier. The great thing about this is, if you have the hardware, ALL of the server software is completely free :) These servers can handle a much bigger load than little old Excel can and are much more efficient.
