Hello! I am hoping that someone can help me with my dilemma. I currently have a spreadsheet that will calculate the fair market values of an asset and compare to the book value of that asset to determine if the asset is financially upside down or not. I need to determine the month where the balance is closest to zero whether it is a positive or negative number and the fair market value is based on the month it is sold. The sold date starts with today and then the next month would be one month later, where the FMV and Book Values are then recalculated to get a new balance. Solver doesn't seem to work because of my negative numbers and also doesn't identify the first month the balance gets closest to zero. GoalSeek also doesn't work because of the dynamics of the calculations involved. I am thinking I need to do this in a nested loop in VBA but am stuck.
Any ideas out there? I included an abbreviated sample of the spreadsheet below with what I am trying to do where the Fair Market Value = Purchase Price + (Multiplier * Miles) and the OK/(Upside Down) is the difference between FMV and Book Value.
