Hi guys, how would I sort a spreadsheet to put at the top all cells in a certain column that do not contain the word "sep"?

What I'm trying to do is isolate clients so I can see quickly at a glance who didn't have a sales call in September.

Currently each client has a cell in which I enter the month my team most recently called on them. Feel free to suggest a better way to track though - I'm totally open to suggestions that will keep me sane until the bosses purchase a CRM package ...

As usual, thanks in advance,
Jo

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
This is a simple way that I'd do it, some of the gurus on this site might have a better idea...

I'd put =IF(A1="sep","x","a") in some unused column (say column AA). Then select all columns and sort by column AA first, and select "Then by" column A (assuming your data is in A, otherwise change the A1 in the IF formula and the column A to wherever your data with the "sep"s are).

Hi,

xapie128 provided you a sort as required, but perhaps your need can be solved using autofilter (see menu data/filter)
clicking on the black triangle of your filter
you get some options: select custom
how you can choose
"is not equal to"
or
"does not contain" (if "sep" would be part of the cell)

kind regards,
Erik
