sort rows with hidden cells containing formulas

I have been trying to sort rows on my sheet accending by the first column (Name) to the right of all the other cells there is a hidden cell containing a formula, I have tried sorting the rows but the information becomes jumbled.
is it possible to sort a sheet using the first column and as the names are sorted the relevant information in that row moves with the names.
i am using excel 2003.
