Hi,
I've two columns of data. Column A is a numerical list of sewing threads, sorted as you would, numerically! Column B is the colour name of the thread, i.e.

1000 Black
1001 White
1003 Red
1004 Blue

How can I sort column B alphabetically and have column A sort to match, i.e.

1000 Black
1004 Blue
1003 Red
1001 White

TIA
Barry

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Select both columns and go to Data\Sort. If you don't have a header row (titles in row 1), set 'sort by' to Column B. If you do have a header row, select that option and sort by the titles. It's essentially the same as sorting by column B, except it won't include the title in the sort.
