Sorting 5 different sheets.

Hi all;

I have 5 different sheets with different columns; There are only two columns which they have in common; NbrID and user date. Some have more rows than others.

We have a formula that is based on each of these sheets having the rows in the exact same order. If one sheet does not have the Nbr ID, i want excel to insert rows with the missing number ID only. At the end of the day, assuming the spreadsheet with the most rows has 5000 rows, all the spreadsheets should have 5000 rows.

Short of having to go through each sheet on comparing one line at a time, is there an other way?

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Can you post some sample values to show what your data will actually look like? Is the data consecutive, or are there gaps in it? Until you define your data more specifically, it will be hard to help you. Also, why do you need 5 essentially identical files? Could they be consolidated into 1 file?

they each for the most part have different column headings.

1.NBR_POOL DT_FACS_CYCL_FNL AMT_CAPL_CST_ECON_CE_CLM_PV

2.NBR_POOL AMT_CE_CLM_EXPCTD_PV AMT_GFEE_PV_SUM

3.NBR_POOL DT_SALE_SECR_EOM RATE_ANY_WA RATE_PC_CPN

these are not all the columns in each sheet though. I posted these as a sample. and there are two more sheets.

What about sample data. Is everything in order and the missing ones are at the end or is the data unpredictable?

Is it like this

Sheet1 Sheet2 Sheet3
1 1 1
2 2 2
3 3 3
4 4
5 5
6
7
8

or more like this

Sheet1 Sheet2 Sheet3
1 4 2
2 5 5
4 8 9
5 9
6
8
9

or something else entirely? The column headers aren't a major issue but how your data appears is most important.

Hello lebc,

Welcome, I see that you are new to the board. Here is a suggestion to make it easier to help you. Post some sample data so that we don't have to extract your information one piece at a time. The more information you provide, the more quickly someone can help you.

Regarding your most recent post:

A. Can any sheet have the new "lowest" value or does one sheet always have it

B. Same as question A but for new "highest" value

C. Do all sheets need to go from new "lowest" value to new "highest" value when completed

D. Is the increment 1

E. Can the changes be implemented in the original sheets or do you need new sheets and/or a new file.

You will find this board to be an awesome place for getting questions answered. Good Luck!
