I need to sort a column of room numbers.
They sorted like this...
IC16
A1
A2
C19
C2
C6
CC1
CC10
CC2

How do I get them to sort like this?
A1
A2
B1
B2
C2
C19
CC1
CC2
CC10

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
It is possible that you had "Header Row" selected on the filter. That would account for IC16 remaining at the top (I assume that it was at the top originally.

In AlphaNumeric sorting CC10 would come between CC1 and CC2. The only way around this would be to rename the latter two to CC01 and CC02 etc. This would then sort the list properly.

Hope that helps.

Sometimes the simplest of answers are the hardest to find.

You're welcome.
