As with numbers you can sort using the function LARGE, is there a way you can do this alphabetically ??

Ignoring generality is admissible if the system has a signicant superiority over one that is (more) general.

Very well put! And, from what you've already mentioned, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Not only is your formula system more efficient, and works with both text and numbers, but it also caters to blanks. As you already know, my formula would need to be amended to deal with blanks, making it more inefficient.

Having said that, it would be interesting to know which solution the OP opts for. :)

Quoting from Charles Williams's site:

"FastExcel measures Workbook Volatility by comparing the time for a Recalculation to the time for a full calculation, and allows you to measure worksheet volatility by comparing the sheet recalculate time with the sheet full calculate time."

Volatile functions aggravates the volatility score for:

"A Volatile Function in a formula in a cell is always recalculated at each recalculation even if it does not appear to have any changed precedents."

Thanks Aladin! Much appreciated!

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
I went with Aladins, as it was, for my scenario going to help the best, ut caters for additional names that can be added into my A column, which are currently blanks....I am still trying to understand the formula he has created...but it works perfectly ...stil thanks to everyone but Aladin, I am in awe of your knowledge!!
