Sorting Canadian postal codes

Hi All: I need to sort postal codes from an Excel mailing list. The need is to be able to sort (example E2E 4G7) all of the E's then the E2's, then the E2E's then all of the E2E4's etc. They currently reside in one cell as a code. Is there a way to extract the data from a cell and send each character to a separate cell so that it can be sorted as I have described?

Maybe pie in the sky ...but would appreciate any input.

Thanks
Kevin

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Did you try using Excels built in Sort function?

Go to Data --> Sort. I was able to sort a sample of Zip Codes without breaking the characters apart into individual cells.

For all us non Canadians, can you give us a representative selection of the codes and what the desired result would be.
