I have alot of data from a plate levelling machine

plate name, width, lenght, gauge, yield data, roll mode, overstretch and strategy used

there are 5 worksheets in this book 1 = levelled plates in 1 pass, 2 = levelled plates in 2 passes etc

firstly i would like to know how to sort the data with regards to plate dimensions

ie.... i need an operation/program that will go through the width and length columns and group all like plates together (so 4000x2000 plates get grouped and highlighted in yellow, the 10000x3000 get grouped and highlighted in green)

is this easy to do? i have limited knowledge of excel and VB but i tend to learn fast.

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
Hello,

Why can't you do a manual sort? first by width column, then by length column?

Hello,

Why can't you do a manual sort? first by width column, then by length column?

i tried that, but it seems that its not doing it right

i sorted the first sheet by hand since most plates were 4000x1900 and i highlighted them

when i tried to sort them (to test it out) it seems to be breaking up the row.

so i have plate number, width, length, gauge all in the right place, but then the strategy column has become detached and is now stuck on some other plate

plus i need to sort by both width and lenght, so if i sort by column B and then by column C it still has things in a muddle

i need to physically extract certain plate sizes like 4000x1900 take them out the list and drop them in a new sheet.

lol really not sure how to use this

List range = is the whole list right?

Criteria range? what is that?

why cant they just make it so you can highlight your data and just ask it to find the numbers 4000 and 1900 in their respective columns

maybe they have, im jus too inept to use it

hahaha!

think i got it, AutoFilter puts little drop down things on top of the columns...ill just do it like this and physically move them, should be ok
