sorting question

i have a series of data with dashes ("--") scattered througout where there was no figure

is there a way to sort this in descending order so that those dashes top? on the bottom rather than the top?

Create a new Custom List containing #,--, then sort the column descending using that list by pushing options and choosing the new list as the sort order key. This will put the "--"s at the end of the list which I think is what you meant
