Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.

I think it depends on how long you had the file open for and whether you've got autosave turned on .... there's a possibility that you may have an auto-saved version in your temp files folder....

Unless anyone else has any bright ideas, I think you may be a bit stuffed....

You maybe lucky .. But try your tempororay directories.
under ms 2000 and abouve
in Documents and Settings/YourUsername/Local Settings/... It could be in temporary internet setting or Temp. you have to look around. But chances are it is gone.
