# Special Case: Pivot Tables Averages

Looks easy, but I could not do it.

For example, if I have a frequency distribution like:

Class - Frequency - Sum
A - 1 - 150
B - 2 - 200
A - 3 - 450
B - 4 - 400

The challenge: using Pivot Tables, how can I calculate the average of 'sum' by classes?

Average A = 150
Average B = 100

Thanks!

### Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Is there any reason this MUST be done within a Pivot Table? It should be a fairly simple calculation without using a Pivot Table.

I just use a single class, but this is a database of 45,000 rows and 20 columns and about 12 different classes in different criteria to get the average. Being one of them timing, it has a quarterly change. Of course that it is easy manually, but the volume and the repetition is cumbersome and time consuming.

So, are you up to the challenge?

Thanks for inquiring!

Thank you! it worked. Excel is amazing!
