I have a list of names loaded into one column. I need to split these into separate first, middle and last name columns.

Names are different lengths
Not all names have middle names

Any ideas? thanks for your help.

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
try

Data Text to Columns though you may have to move some surnames across from the second column which will be middle names...use space as delimiter.

I tried this, but must be doing something wrong. It requires me to define where the split is and when I define the split for one row, it is applied to all rows.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks so much for helping!
