I have a list of dates of birth formatted as 30/07/1976

I would like to split these over three columns, containing date, month and year. I have tried LEFT, MID and RIGHT but the numbers brought back are wrong, any ideas please?

Thank you

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
are they formatted as dates ?

if so & assuming date in A1

=DAY(A1)
=MONTH(A1)
=YEAR(A1)

if not date serial (ie text)

Day =0+LEFT(A1,2)
Month = 0+MID(A1,4,2)
Year = 0+RIGHT(A1,4)
