Spreadsheet contains linked data - How do I save a copy?

Hi Forum,

I have designed a spreadsheet (its just full of graphs) that pulls data from external excel files.

What is required each week is to save a copy of the file for historic/traceability reasons.

However, because all the graphs links to the external files, making changes to these external files will update the graphs, which kind of makes the - keeping a historic reference - of the graphs defunct.

I could easily save the file as PDF but to keep the filesize down, I would rather save as an Excel file.

Is there a way to save the Excel file that makes a persistent copy of all the links?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
In the edit menu, down near the bottom is 'links', which opens up the link manager.

If you save your archive copy, then open this window, select all the linked files and then click 'break links', this will 'localise' all the values.
