Hi,

I am starting of with VBA macros. Want to know which free book will be best
to learn VBA Macros, and if the link is provided to me I can download that book.

Is their any difference between recorded macros and written macros.

Thank you in Advance..

Regards
Sandeep

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Is their any difference between recorded macros and written macros.
Yes.
Recorded macros record a whole bunch of stuff that isn't always (or even usually) needed.
They also simply record your exact actions, including specific cell addresses in which you did anything while recording, whereas with a written macro (technically referred to as a 'routine'), you can write them to be dynamic.

As far as any free books on the subject, I'm afraid I can't help you there, but the best free resource I know of for learning vba is right here on this board. There are also other boards that can be very helpful & informative as well.
(Probably not cool to start naming them off on here, but a quick google search should produce enough of them to actually hurt your eyes...)

Hope it helps.

Recorded macros record a whole bunch of stuff that isn't always (or even usually) needed

and normally (always?) slow your code down (sometimes dramatically)

There was a guy called John Franco who gave himself the grandiose title of "Master Of Macros". He was anything but, bless him, but he did produce a free eBook that you could download in exchange for being spammed relentlessly with offers to buy other books he'd written.

His site is no more but I'll cheerfully upload the free book to somewhere if you're interested.

I really like the way you worded this.
(Your impressive amount of tact has not gone unnoticed.)
