G'Day everyone (my first post here).

I have a few questions (one at a time!) and my first is inserting a "counter" with the same text. I have a sheet which tracks the progessive rounds in a football competition (results, premiership table etc). I want to be able to have the string "Round" plus the round number of each week at the top cell i.e.

Round 1
Round 2
....
Round 20

I've looked through the help and cannot get a clue how to do this. I know there must be a function somewhere that allows me to do this.

TIA

(Using Excel 2010)

Welcome to the board..

You can just type Round 1 in a cell, then Drag it right/left/up/down and the number will incriment accordingly.

My apologies - I appear not to have explained my intent clearly. Below is a link to a screen cap of one of the blocks of info I want to copy within the same sheet:

As you can see, autofill will not work here, so I am looking for a formula/function that will do the job.

Tnx :)

It seems like Jonmo's suggestion would work fine, but how about autofill the cells with numbers and then apply a custom format of "Round "0

Thanks for the formatting suggestion FryGirl - that did the trick! I typed a figure in the cell (header for each round) and formatted it as suggested (once I got my head around it!).

Thanks also to Jonmo for putting me on the right heading. Another little trick learned :)

Lest we forget - ANZAC Day 2011
