Hello All,

When I try to copy-paste data into a sheet Excel is splitting it into
columns using the white-space-charecter as a delimiter. How can i stop this ? It was working fine earlier(the pasted data was all in the first column)

Thanks for any suggestions......

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

I've had that happen before, and it seems that it was because I had done a text-to-column, so Excel remembered and was "helping". Try closing your Excel completely, then try the copy/paste again

That's exactly what i've done.

I just tried closing Excel and then re-copy-pasting and it works!

So i guess now my question is: How do i stop Excel trying to help in this
situation?

You don't. ;)

Lynn's advice is all you can do, until/if it gets addressed in the future. I'll ask around and see why it defaults to that behavior.

why not do a dummy text-to-columns run with the white-space delimiter removed, this way the next copy/paste should work OK.
