Why are my Row and Column Headers shown with a strikthrough each of the letters and numbers?

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Did a little poking around, looks like that's controlled by the style settings. Somehow your 'Normal' style got set to strikethrough text, which then applied itself to the row/column headers.

For 2003:
Go to Format>Style, select the 'Normal' style and click the modify button.
Change the formatting so strikethrough is not selected, then click OK.

For 2007:
On the Home ribbon, click 'Cell Styles,' right-click on the 'Normal' style and select Modify.
Click the Format button then remove the strikethrough with the options. Click OK.

No idea but:

Format | Cells | and under the font characteristics uncheck the box for strikethrough. If that doesn't work then you've got some mighty strange characters that you'll have to re-write (edit: strike that - see above on another explanation as well)

Hope this helps - also, welcome to mrexcel.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the delay in responding. Von Pookie, you were right. Thanks a million. We've had half of our organisation scratching our heads trying to work it out.

Woohooo!
Cheers.
