I have a relatively small file (765 KB csv file) that has about 24000 rows with 3 columns. When I try to use the SubTotal Function, the machine slows to a crawl and I haven't been able to wait long enough for it to process. I sent the file to a friend and he was able to add the subtotal information in 2 seconds.
What could the problem be? This is excel 2007. Please help!
TIA!!!

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Are you performing the subtotal on the .csv file, or are you inporting the .csv file to Excel first?

Interesting. That does seem to be the problem. I imported the data instead and all seems ok.
thanks!
