subtotaling filtered data

I am using the advanced filter function to filter data and then subtotaling the filtered data. Before subtotaling the filtered data I am sorting by account code. 5200-100-538-2002 is an example of an account code. When I try to subtotal the data I am getting 4 different subtotals for each account code rather than 1. If I do alt ; after applying the advanced filter and copy the visible cells to a different worksheet I do not have any problems with subtotals. However, this is time consuming when working with multiple pages of data. My goal is to be able to subtotal data after applying the advanced filter without any problems. I would appreciate any help you may provide on this?

Hello Jeff,

The subtotal thinks that the account codes are different. Have you tried using a pivot table on your data to see if it considers the values different?

Thanks Loren! I did try a pivot table and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I do not want to use a pivot table for this. I would like to subtotal the filtered data. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the subtotal function to work properly on filtered data?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff:

SubTotal should work fine with the filtered data.

How about posting a few rows of your sample data, the result(s_ you are getting, and your expected result(s) ... so we can see what you are working with and what you are trying to accomplish.
