Hi there - got a problem that I'm not sure has a solution but figured I'd put it to the test on here...

I am trying to calculate the IRR of the delta of two cash flow series. So I need to subtract the elements of one array from the corresponding elements of another array within the IRR formula. I have tried this:

=IRR((F69:F102)-(D69:D102))

as both a regular and an array formula, but it doesn't work. Is there another way?

Entered as an array formula should work. Do the results of each F-D comply to the IRR syntax?

  • Values must contain at least one positive value and one negative value to calculate the internal rate of return.
  • IRR uses the order of values to interpret the order of cash flows. Be sure to enter your payment and income values in the sequence you want.
  • If an array or reference argument contains text, logical values, or empty cells, those values are ignored.
