Hi All, I am having some trouble figuring out a formula/solution to this: I am looking at a spreadsheet of time punches for employees and auditing whether they've worked more than 10 hours in a day. My dilemma is combing multiple punches from the same day to get the total hours worked for that day (see attached picture, highlight criteria).

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Hi Lucia,
that sounds an awful lot like the SUMIFS formula, see e.g. this tutorial: Excel formula: Sum if multiple criteria | Exceljet . With SUMIFS you can basically add up all hours in a range where the employee column and the date column have the same value as that row.
Does that do the trick?

I'm not sure really sure how to go about it though... I've condensed the work sheet to only the information that I need. I combined the name and date into one cell/column, and the hours for that person/day are in the column next to it.
