Sum Cells Ignore Text in same cell

Is there a way to sum cells that have both numbers and text in the same cell? I would like to just sum the numbers not text.

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
Sort by date Sort by votes
it would have something like CW 1 or PW 1 in the cells, numbers and possible text would vary.
