Sum column based on adjacent column values

Color Amount
Blue 100
Red 200
Blue 300

I want to find the sum of the amount column given a certain'Color' value. In the above example the sum of the 'blue' color would be 400 (100 + 300), and the sum of the red color would be 200

In other words its a basic SUMIF but based on criteria from an adjacent column rather than criteria in the column iteself

I'm guessing I use the COLUMN function maybe but I can't get this to work and it's almost midnight here (New Zealand)

any help much appreciated
