Hello:

I am trying to use the sum if formula where in my "Range" data field, I am looking at differenet text strings all starting with the same text, for example, BA: Abcd, BA: Efgh, BA: Ijkl, etc etc.

I want to use sum if to sum all the ones that begin with "BA:" but cannot quite get there.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

=SUMIF(A1:A10,"BA:*",B1:B10)

or

=SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT(A1:A10,3)="BA:"),(B1:B10))

Wonderful, thank you so much.

What do the -- do in the =SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT(A1:A10,3)="BA:"),(B1:B10))?

Thanks
