Sum rows based on columns?

Hi,

I have a dataset that looks like this:

I'd like to a macro that will sum the last 4 columns by Resource_ID and Hour Ending so that it looks like this:

I know that I can do this through Subtotals and a pivot table but I need a macro as this data will be used further. Can anyone help with this?

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

This presumes that the 'header' is in row one and starts in A1. Also presumes that your data sheet is named "DataSheet."

It plants the summed data off to the right in Cols J-O, starting at row 2, so make sure this won't overwrite stuff you already may have there.

Hi Mark,

I noticed today that for the summed values, it rounds up (some values are 125.25 for example). I tried changing i from Integer to Single and Double but this did not work. Any suggestions?

Change aVals() to a Single or Double. I would note that one of the ways I almost always find very helpful when trying to figure out what some code is actually doing is to step thru it.

To do this, after changing aVals, place the cursor on the line that the first With is. Then click F9. This will place a breakpoint.

Then click whatever button or wahtever starts the code a runnin'. When it breaks, you can execute line-by-line, by repeatedly clicking the F8 button.

As you do this, you can hover the cursor over various variables and see what their values are and how they are changing.
