Hey Guys, Im trying to write a basic rota for my team of staff. I want it to be easy on the eye to look at so have put a key at the bottom which is E=early M=middle L=Late. I have a total colloum at the far corner that I wanted to ad up shifts so I know how many staff I have on that day but I cant seem to figure this one out. im sure its pretty easy for you all but im kinda new to using excel. I hope this makes sense and someone can help me! Thank you !

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Hi, welcome to the board.

Your request is pretty vague, so it's difficult to give a precise answer.

But I think the COUNT, COUNTA, or COUNTIF functions may help you here.

If you still need more help, post back. If you do post back, don't worry too much about the background to your situation, just focus on describing the data you have, and what you want to do it.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for being slightly vague.. What I want to do is have a colloid for each individual and then Collins for days if week.. If the staff member was working that day it would say either E, L of M depending on shift.. (Rather then a time) is there a way to add a count colloid at the end with a formula that adds the letters together for that day ie Monday Lee is on E Jo is on L and VJ on M so the count collloum would say 3..? Sorry I'm new to all this..!!
