Sum varying length blocks of data

Hi,
I need some help regarding the sum of all the data sets.As shown in example there are 5 data sets. Here the sum of each data set is shown in the last row of it. I want the sum to be displayed in column B(as its showing 399 which is the total of first set), similarly it should show 1047, 369,459 189 and 1083 for the rest of data sets in example. any help will be highly appreciated, i need it as soon as possible..........

In B1 enter:

=INDEX(A1:A$29,MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(A1:A$29="",),FALSE)-1)

and copy to the other cells you want to fill.

Do my data and results look correct, including the layout? If not, please explain in what way.

Did you copy the formula down column B to the end of the column A data?

If I just put 1 formula in B1 I get a 0 too but if I copy the formula from B1 down to B2 , B3, ..., B28 I get what my earlier screen shot shows.

If you have copied the formula down and have a whole column of 0s, then perhaps your 'Calculation' is set to Manual. Check that it is set to Automatic. If you don't know how to do that post back and tell us what version of Excel you are using.

I don't think I need to find another solution as I think this one works fine - I've even posted a screen shot of my actual sheet that used this formula and you say it is producing the correct results. So we just have to find out why yours isn't. Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your own so we can see a bit better just what you have and where?
