Sum with Condition

From E2:E5 I have the following values:

Before 3/12/2018
After 3/12/2018
Before 3/11/2018
After 3/11/2018

From F2:F5 I have the following values:

$10
$20
$30
$40

I need a formula that will sum all the ones that begin with "Before" which should total ($10+$30) $40. Any help is appreciated.

You can do this with a simple SUMIF, i.e.

=SUMIF(E2:E5,"Before*",F2:F5)
