Hi magicians,

I have the below list of info. What I am trying to do is sum column B if column A states A then minus the sum of column B if column A states "IN" and column C states "IEP" ( so forgetting row 3).

So the total should be 275,000 - 95,000 = 180,000.

For column A, "OUT" will always have "IEP" in column C whereas "IN" will either have "IEP" or "bank".

Getting the 275,000 is simple as will just do:
Excel Formula:
=SUMIF(A:A,"OUT",B:B)

It's the second part that I'm struggling with as believe will require a SUMIFS but just can't seem to get it to work.

Any ideas will be grateful!

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
You have to use SUMIFS, which allows for multiple conditions, i.e.
Excel Formula:
=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,"OUT",C:C,"IEP") - SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,"IN",C:C,"IEP")
