Hi - I have a row of cells with monthly data in it, and I am trying to convert this to a row of data with quarterly data in it.

Having flagged each of the monthly cells to specify the year and the quarter (i.e. 1,2,3 or 4) I have been trying to use the SUMIFS function to make the conversion.

However, I seem to be struggling - any one have any thoughts or other suggestions?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
First thoughts would be to use a MOD equation to determine which quarter the month lies in and then add all those with matching quarters. About to leave work so no time to work out what it would be, hopefully someone else can...

Thanks. Solved it using two nested IFs within a regular SUM function. Still not sure how to make the SUMIFS function work though!

Thanks
