I am trying to sum numbers with dashes across multiple sheets to sum quarterback passing totals. I am looking for a formula for sheet3 cell B1 to sum the numbers from sheet1 B1 and sheet2 B1.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Example:<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Sheet1<o:p></o:p>
Cell A1:<o:p></o:p>
Completions-Attempts-Int<o:p></o:p>
Cell B1:<o:p></o:p>
6-9-0<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Sheet2<o:p></o:p>
Cell A1:<o:p></o:p>
Completions-Attempts-Int<o:p></o:p>
Cell B1:<o:p></o:p>
5-10-1<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Sheet3<o:p></o:p>
Cell A1:<o:p></o:p>
Completions-Attempts-Int<o:p></o:p>
Cell B1:<o:p></o:p>
11-19-1 (need formula for this cell)<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>
<o:p>Thanks,<o:p></o:p>
Kurt<o:p></o:p>

In order to do this easily, I suggest you parse the values. Place them in three adjacent cells. Do this using the Text to Columns function. Depending on what version of Excel you are using, the steps to locate will be slightly different, but should be on the Data Tab or Menu. Once you have the information parsed, then a simple sum function should work for you.

There could be simpler solutions, but this is what I got -

Code:
=CONCATENATE(INT(LEFT(Sheet1!B1,FIND("-",Sheet1!B1,1)-1))+INT(LEFT(Sheet2!B1,FIND("-",Sheet2!B1,1)-1)),"-",INT(MID(Sheet1!B1,FIND("-",Sheet1!B1,1)+1,FIND("-",Sheet1!B1,FIND("-",Sheet1!B1,1)+1)-FIND("-",Sheet1!B1,1)-1))+INT(MID(Sheet2!B1,FIND("-",Sheet2!B1,1)+1,FIND("-",Sheet2!B1,FIND("-",Sheet2!B1,1)+1)-FIND("-",Sheet2!B1,1)-1)),"-",INT(RIGHT(Sheet1!B1,LEN(Sheet1!B1)-FIND("--",SUBSTITUTE(Sheet1!B1,"-","--",2),1)))+INT(RIGHT(Sheet2!B1,LEN(Sheet2!B1)-FIND("--",SUBSTITUTE(Sheet2!B1,"-","--",2),1))))
