Summing User Form text box values

How do I sum values in text boxes?

I have tried

txtTotal.Value=Val(txtApples)+Val(txtOranges)+Val(txtBananas) but I get a Type Mismatch error and cant figure out whats wrong

Any clues ?

The values I enter in to text boxes represent percentages (ie 30% is entered as "30")

If you enter 30 it works fine for me, as does 30%.
