Hi
i am trying to sum data within a spreadsheet using certain criteria.

I have used sumif before but this was when searching for the actual full part number i.e. AWV2500-A. I want to simply not by each part but by ones which begin AWV... so this will give me one total for AWV type parts.
In addition the file has several months data i want to pick up 200806 month only.

This is the formula i used but returned VALUE statement.

=SUM(IF(A3727:A6078="AWV&"*",IF(K3727:K6078=""200806",C3727:C6078))

Is there a SUM product i could use?

Any help would be apprecaited.
Thanks
Jason

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
=sumproduct(--(left($a$3727:$a$6078,3)="awv"),--($k$3727:$k$6078="200806"),--($c$3727:$c$6078))

Can you tell me what the -- marks are for, what purpose are they for?

Thanks
