I need to find a formula to sum up the total sales for individuals. Let's say Column A contains the name of individuals (possibly repeated as they make new sales) and Column B contains the dollar amount of sales. On another sheet I could have their names ( only once each this time) in column A with their total sales in Column B.

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Hi jnuzman

Try looking at Pivot Tables. A Pivot Table does exactly what you want and you can easily add new specs like number of sales, max sale, average value of sales, etc..
