hi excel gurus,

I was just wondering if someone could help me, i have a list of data that i need filtered e.g.

superman is the best

and the range of words that need to be filtered are in another column:

is
the
best
comic
book

so all im left with is : superman

i hope that makes sense? all i see in the filter options are; Does not contain option and OR, but i want it to be filtered from a list of many words :)

Thank you!

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
so you have

superman is the best
superman
superman is the best comic book
etc

and you want to use a drop down filter to select the rows without all the words in your list or do you want those words removed from the cell that contains

superman is the best
?

Hi Arctic,

I apologize for any confusion, here is what i need help on:

Sheet 1:

Superman Boots
Superman Socks
Superman Shoes
Superman Belt
Superman sneakers
Superman Poster

Sheet 2 (the range of words that need to be filtered out)

Shoes
Boots
Trainers
Sneakers

So after the filter takes place ill end up with the following on Sheet 1:

Superman Socks
Superman Belt
Superman Poster

I hope thats more clear?

maybe if i do text to columns and split up the sentences into different cells then do a match and if they match delete the row so i'm only left with the titles that didnt match the data range on sheet 2?
