Text formatting within a cell

I would like to know that if there is a way to format text within a single cell just like you do in a Word document. Specifically, creating new paragraphs and placing bulltes or numbers in front of each paragraph.

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
To a certain extent, you can, but there are limits to how much text a cell can contain and how much of that text Excel can display.

Here are a few tips:
• to insert a line-break: Hold down ALT and press ENTER
• to type a bullet (like the one that begins this line):
Hold down ALT...Type: 0149 (from the numeric keypad)...Release ALT
• a cell can display around 1,000 characters. There are tricks to getting
more characters to display, but not many more.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Ron

I tried that. It puts O in the formula Bar but it does not display any bullet in the cell. Also, I like to know if you do indentation in a cell and display it like the example below.

The sales samples are as follows:
    • January Period
    • Febuary period

Try this:

• To get the correct bullet point...you must: Hold down ALT...type 0149...Release ALT
If you don't type the leading zero, you get this character: ò

However, based on your last post, it appears that you are probably looking to do something more complicated than Excel can handle. If Excel did everything MS Word does, there'd be no need for MS Word, right?

Yes , you are correct

However, it is surprising that so many people use excel to communicate results in the form of tables that is made of excel cells. I just wanted to know how much editting and formatting I can do on the cell contents and not having to transfer them into MS Word.

Thanks

Paul
