I know that this isn't text recognition by definition but I want excel to be able to auto-finish text as if it were right next to it only from a further distance. For example if I type "abc" in A1 and "a" in a2, excel will attempt to finish the line with the additional "bc". I want excel to finish the cell if for example "abc" was in A20 and I typed "a" in A1.

Version: 2003 (xls format)
Thank you for your time,

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Welcome to the Board!

This can't technically be done in a sheet that I am aware of.

But you can press Alt+ the down arrow and that will give you a list of all the items in that column above it in a consecutive range. You can also start to type a word and press Alt+ down arrow and it will go to that section in the list.

I know that isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I believe it is the closest work around.

Hope that helps.

You were right this wasnt exactly what I wanted, Its 10 times better. Thank you this gives me the ability to sort through options instead of having to have excel guess and there for a term like fish will return all fish products not just the closest one. Thank you very much.
