Hey everyone,

I have an excel worksheet that when I use it, all of the sudden, a half inch off the left side of my screen (between the title box and the status bar) turns gray, and I can't use that area to group and ungroup areas of my workbook until I close and open the workbook again. Does anyone know what might cause this?

Thanks,

Kent

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
I still haven't had any responses yet. It is frustrating.

Here is more info, if it helps:

I am running Office 2000 with Windows 2000. It has only happened in a workbook that has macros, and I can't get the left side of my screen to show up (row numbers, and grouping) unless I restart the document.

Anyone with any info on this would really make my day!

Dreamboat,

Just missed your post! I will try and get a screen shot in the future to post, Can I just use the HTML posting tool for this?

I don't think so. Just upload an image anywhere and link to it as per the instructions for this bulletin board software. If you can't upload, email it to me and I will.

Hi KentKHI,
What about the macros in that workbook? Are they your's? CAn you send in the macro also if possible? (Tools>Macros>Macros>Edit, then copy and Paste)

Actually it hasn't happened for a while, if you notice my first post was Jan 31. I would post the Macros which are my own, but I have pages and pages of them. I'll let you know if it continues to happen. Thanks for the interest though!

Hi Everyone!

It is happening again! (all of the time)

I randomly have a problem with some of my worksheets, and lately a lot more often. When I open them, even before I select yes, run macros, about a quarter of the right side of the workbook fully grays out. It grays out the column headings, and all of the way down to even gray out the sheet tabs. It also starts clear at the edge of the screen.

The only way that I can get around this is to open a blank excel document first, and then open my working or "important" document.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

How do I post a shot of this? the HTML creater does not show it.
