The letter N is replacing the Decimal point in Excel 97

Hi, When I open any of my Excel worksheets all the decimal points have been changed to the letter 'N'. Could someone tell how to fix this and what's causing this error. When I open the same files from another PC on the network, they open normally. Any help will be greatly apperiacted. Thank you.
