The query returned more data than will fit on a worksheet

Hi all,

I've a bit of a problem that I hope someone can help with.

I've a main Excel workbook that imports data from other source Excel workbooks. In the the main workbook I have just one sheet that is linked to eight other source workbooks. I'm only importing a block of about 40 columns and 35 rows of data from each of the source workbooks.

It was originally linked following this method:

Data > Import External Data > Import Data > Select Source Data

So, I'm not actually importing that much data, however, I get this message:

"The query returned more data than will fit on a worksheet"

It used to work fine. The only thing that has changed is that I've now added another column to the source sheet, I was hoping that this extra column would automaticaly be imported, instead I get the above error and I dont know how to edit the OLE DB Query window that pops up when I click 'edit query'.

I've used this method of linking with a lot more data and it's always worked when the source sheet updates, but I've a feeling that this may be due to the fact its columns that is being added and not rows.

I hope that's clear, if not I'm more than happy to clarify.

Thanks for any help.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
try Refreshing your connection maybe? Also, check to make sure you don't have like, a billion of connections to the source.
