I hate it when simple things won't work for me...

Column D has a two digit country code.
Column C has a two digit country code

All I want to do is highlight the cells in Column D where it equals Column C. That would be most of them . . . .
I clicked in D2 and clicked conditional formatting and entered

=D2=C2

Then choose Green highlight.

Nothing happens . . .

I hate Mondays.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Works here

Excel Workbook
CD
2USAUSA
3UKUSA
Hoja de Vida Anillos-Cilindros
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
D21. / Formula is =C2=D2Abc

Maybe try

=TRIM(C2)=TRIM(D2)

Part 2 . . I entered D2<>C2 and all of column d is highlighted, even thoughs that match . . .

DE in Column C and DE in Column D and excel thinks D2<>C2 is true . . . . .

I don't get it

Re: the simpliest conditional format Excel2003 Part 2

Now, I sort by column B, but need to highlight when the part number changes . . . . So I clicked on Column B and go to conditional formatting and entered =b2=b1 and formatted it in Pink.

The first time I did it, it highlighted the LAST part number in the list, not the FIRST . . . .so I tried redoing it and now, Excel puts =b2=b1 in ALL the cells . . . . . .

This drives me nuts

I already trimmed it to make it work the first time, but now, it is copying ok, I just have a problem with the correct formula to use to get Excel to highlight the FIRST instance of a new part number.

Everything I do highlights the LAST instance . . . .
