I'm not sure what I did to cause this every time I launch the specific database xls file. I did save a whole database from xls to xsls then back to xls to get rid of one problem I had though, maybe that's when this was triggered. How do I remove these "links" or how do I disable this warning so it won't appear when I pass off the database to another colleague?

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Are you sure there are no formulas in the workbook that are pointing to external sources?

To see what external sources your database is linked to, try one of the following:

For Excel 2003 = Edit>Links...

For Excel 2007/10 = Edit Links can be found under the "Data" tab in the "Connections" section...

update only tries to find the newest data from your original file when the new one is opened. dont update tells it not to update.

you need to edit the links and changes the filename to the workbook you are in or break the links(be careful though, breaking links removes ALL linked formulas and puts them as a value and cannot be undone. if you are planning to break the links save a copy to see if it affects your workbook

What's the quickest way to show all links in the database? The database never did this before, so it must have been a recent, accidental change. As you see in the above picture it shows I have none.

Solved it by looking around somewhere else. It was under File -> Info -> Related Documents -> Edit Links to Files and I checked this radio button, no more problems ^_^
