Thousands Comma Seperator Excel 2010

I am trying to set up a thousand, seperator in Excel 2010 under options. I have put in a , under thousands, but I still don't get by values seperated for eg my values appear as
3 334.40 and s/b 3,334.40

It would be appreciated if someone could assist me
 

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
may be excel see your data as text not as number
check it with
=isnumber(A1)

if result false
then you need to convert it to number

=Isnumber (A1) return a 1 which means it is true. How do I go about setting up the thiusands , seperator under options in 2010? Your assistance is most appreciated

I sorted out the problem. Under the thousand seperator one must just put in a , but must leave the check box unchecked
