Hello All.
I have been on this for hrs, completely done my head in,, any advise greatly apreciated.
I have a sheet with column H & I I want to be able to show a tick or a cross in, if the assigned list shows either a YES or a NO.
I just cant get it to work.
(I did originally try windings, I just couldn't get it to work,, the dropdown list continued to show funny characters), so no joy with this method,, and don't want a VBA solution if I can help it.

Please view image,,, it's really stumped me.

I attach a simple sheet also,

All I want to do, is if the word YES is selected in cell H2, it will display a nice green tick, via icon set if possible under conditional formatting.
Please, someone show me the light!
I'm going crazy here.

Many thanks in advance
a very frustrated

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Copy this formula into cell I1

Format I1 to use the font type "Marlett"

Typing Yes/No into H1 will now give you your Tick or Cross.

Change the font on your Dropdown sheet to Segoe UI Symbol
In select A1 (delete contents) then on the insert tab > Symbol > select the Segoe UI Symbol font > Subset Dingbats > double click the symbol you want.
repeat for A2

Hi TonyUK72!

Thanks for your reply.

Nope,, I just get a funnny looking symbol!
And I dont want to type anything into coloumn H2:H202, or I2:I202,,,, I want to use the named dropdown list on the other tab withing the worksheet.
(Tab is called drop_down)

Is there anyway to do this, with drop down data TonyUK72?

Copy and paste the symbols from post#7 into your Yes_no range & change the font to Calibri.
Then try it

Do you have the Marlett font available to you?

Do you get a TICK, if you enter "a" without speechmarks, and the cell has a font type of Marlett?

Can your workbook be macro enabled? E.g can you use VBA or would that cause other problems?

If the answer is YES to all three questions then we could create a YES/NO dropdown and have the cell automatically change to a TICK or CROSS upon selection of YES/NO from a dropdown.
