I'm looking for a formula that will convert in/out times to total hours worked in a day. For example A1=7am, A2=11am, A3=11:30am and A4=4pm.

All of the times represent 1 work day. What formula will calculate those 4 numbers to show total hours worked or 8.5 hours in this case.

Thanks,
Chip

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Thanks so much for the help. It works great.

I'm sure no one cares really, but if any one would like a copy of my 'pay calculator' spreadsheet I'll pass it along. Actually it's more of a budget where all you should have to do is initially enter your bills and payrate then as you enter your hours everything changes to show you how much of your $$ goes to bills and what is disposable.

My first attempt at a 'real' spreadsheet.
